China’s Nanjing Agricultural University

Laikipia University welcomed a delegation from China’s Nanjing Agricultural University, led by Vice President Jiang Song, on 20th October 2026 for discussions on possible collaboration in agricultural education, training and research.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kibett Rotich, together with University Management and other senior staff, welcomed the delegation. Discussions explored cooperation in agricultural sciences, animal science and husbandry, and food security, alongside opportunities for student and staff exchanges, training and joint research.

The visit comes at an opportune time as Laikipia University develops its new School of Agriculture. The proposed collaboration offers prospects for enriching teaching, strengthening research capacity and giving students and staff broader international exposure.

Prof. Rotich noted that the two institutions share a strong interest in agriculture, providing a sound foundation for cooperation. Existing connections through members of the Laikipia University community who studied at Nanjing Agricultural University add a personal and academic link on which to build.

With a history dating back to 1902, Nanjing Agricultural University brings more than 120 years of experience in higher education and a strong reputation in agricultural and life sciences.

For Laikipia University, the discussions mark an encouraging step towards international partnerships that support its growing academic programmes and research relevant to farmers, communities and food security.
