LU AT WORLD WETLANDS DAY CELEBRATIONS HELD IN LAIKIPIA COUNTY ON 2ND FEBRUARY, 2019

The National Celebrations were led by Environment and Natural Resources Management, Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Keriako Tobiko.

Theme : “Wetlands and Climate Change”

Slogan: “Health Wetlands, Health Communities”

LU team led by Prof. Kibett Rotich, the Vice-Chancellor, participated in the World Wetlands Day Celebrations.

The National event was organized by National Environment Management Authority(NEMA) and Laikipia County among others.

Laikipia University was one of the key stakeholders in organizing the event at Laikipia County level. LU also supported some activities such as ;

1. Tree monitoring exercises in three primary schools up stream of Marura wetland on 30th January 2019.

2. Dr. B. Kurgat represented LU on the community forum on how to sustainably use Marura wetland for social-economic and environmental benefits which was held on 1.2.2019
