LU participates in Laikipia Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair

LU participated in the 3rd Laikipia Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair. The theme of the fair was Embracing Innovation for Economic Development. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship fair was organized by the Laikipia County Government under the leadership of the Governor Hon. Ndiritu Muriithi. Hon. Peter Munya CS Trade & Industrialization was the Guest of honor. Prof Nick Wanjohi gave the Keynote Address. In his speech Prof. Wanjohi noted that failure to manufacture machines and tools in Africa has made Africa to be one of the poorest continent. In order to overcome this, people in Africa must turn their innovations into products to be manufactured in huge volumes of progressive quality and durable goods for local national and international market.

More than 100  innovators showcased their innovations. Among them were Laikipia University students from the Department of Computing & Informatics who showcased the following innovations:

The Smart Security System by Lilian Mbaika Mumo (Innovator)

The Smart Security System is a security system mainly made to keep an individual alert of any danger and be able to take advance measures in time. 

Emergency Response System (Ambufy app) by Gloria Mutungi

Ambufy is an app designed to provide real time emergency response services to the public at large. The app centralizes all the emergency rescue centers in one platform i.e. doctors, fire brigades, police stations and ambulances for easier response.
